P2P and informal trading fraud
Taking payment and never delivering USDT, fake payment screenshots, routing other victims' money through your account: informal crypto trading is full of fraud and legal risk.

Red flags
- A rate far better than the market
- "You send the money first"
- Payment "proof" that is only a screenshot
- Money arriving from an unknown third party's account
Common tricks
- Take the money and vanish: after receiving payment through bKash or Nagad, the seller stops responding.
- Fake screenshots: the buyer shows a forged payment screenshot and takes the crypto.
- Triangle fraud: a scammer routes another victim's money into your account. When that victim complains, your account is frozen and you end up under investigation yourself.
The legal side
Under Bangladesh Bank's 2022 circular, banks and mobile financial services must not be used to buy or sell virtual assets. If you are cheated in such a deal, getting a remedy is hard. See the legal status.
