Can I buy bitcoin or USDT with bKash or Nagad?
Last reviewed: 15 October 2026
Short answer
Not lawfully. Under Bangladesh Bank's 2022 circular, banks and mobile financial services must not be used to buy, sell or transfer virtual assets.
Full answer
In its September 2022 circular, Bangladesh Bank told individuals and institutions to refrain from dealing in virtual assets. According to an official's statement, mobile financial services such as bKash and Nagad may not take part in exchanging, transferring or trading virtual assets.
What happens in practice, and the risks:
- Frozen accounts: mobile or bank accounts can be frozen over suspicious transactions.
- Fraud: informal sellers take the money and vanish, or route other victims' money into your account. See P2P fraud.
- No remedy: because the transaction itself was not permitted, legal protection is hard to get if you are cheated.
